CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS
OF THE NORTH HAVEN CIVIC ASSOCIATION
NORTH HAVEN INFORMATION CENTER
North Haven Civic Association Home Page
Article 1. Name
The name of this association shall be “North Haven Civic Association”.
Article 2. Purpose
The purpose is to form a neighborhood civic association
comprised of North Haven land owners and residents in
order to bring about a greater sense of united community
and to improve the vitality of North Haven.
By organizing we hope to:
1. Empower residents to work together in order to identify and
address quality of life issues.
2.Create and support projects geared toward improving and protecting our neighborhoods.
3. Be an information resource for community members by gathering, researching and distributing information on issues affecting the community such as zoning, traffic, street modification, land use and development.
4.Form a collective voice in order to address common problems and set community priorities.
5. Act as a liaison with government bodies and other neighborhood associations and strive to work in cooperation with public officials.
Article 3. Membership
Membership shall be open to all property owners and residents of North Haven.
Article 4. Officers/Directors
Section 1. Officers of this association shall be a President, Vice-President, a Secretary and a Treasurer.
Section 2. The officers and a minimum of two directors shall be elected at the annual meeting, each to serve one year. An officer or director may be re-elected for additional terms.
Article 5. Executive Board
Section 1. The officers and a minimum of two directors shall constitute the Executive Board.
Section 2. Any officer and/or director vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the Executive Board. Such appointed officers and directors serve only until the next annual meeting and may be duly elected at that time.
Article 6. Committee Chairpersons
The President shall appoint Committee Chairpersons to serve during the term of the President’s office.
Article 7. Meetings
Section 1. The Association shall have a regular annual meeting with a date determined by the Executive Board.
Section 2. Special meetings for special purposes may be called by the Executive Board.
Article 8. Dissolution
If there should be a dissolution of the Association, any funds remaining in the Treasury shall be paid over to the North Haven Village Parks and Recreation Fund.
Article 9. Amendments
Any proposed amendment to this Constitution must be submitted to the Secretary by three active members three weeks before a designated meeting. The Secretary shall include the proposed amendment in the notice of the meeting and it may be voted on at such meeting. It shall become part of the Constitution if approved by a two-thirds majority of members present and voting. |
